More about Maggie G

From the moment Maggie stepped onto the dance floor at the age of five, she was captivated by the rhythm and grace of Irish dancing. Competing in Irish dance championships until the age of 16, Maggie developed a passion for movement that would shape her life. Already an accomplished teacher of Modern, Tap, and Jazz, her world took a new turn when her sister Annette introduced her to Line dancing in Ireland. Instantly hooked, Maggie embraced this exciting style and, in 1995, founded the Coventry Line Dance Club, which quickly became a hub of energy and enthusiasm.

Maggie’s choreographic brilliance spans genres, tempos, and skill levels, earning her a place in the pages of Linedancer Magazine and in the hearts of dancers worldwide. Her groundbreaking event at Kings Hall in Stoke-on-Trent in 2002 set the stage for the internationally acclaimed Maggie G Experience Weekends in Southport, where her Showtimes and playful pantomimes became legendary.

Whether crafting steps for an Irish showcase or a Line dance routine, Maggie’s mantra has always been the same: “To Be Sure, To Be Sure!” Her commitment to perfection and joy on the dance floor has earned her an array of accolades, including multiple international awards and the prestigious honor of being inducted into both the Crystal Boot Awards Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Spanish Line Dance Association Hall of Fame for her contributions as an International Dance Personality, Instructor and Choreographer.

In 2013, Maggie’s choreography took center stage in Shane Filan’s music video for “Knee Deep in My Heart,” featuring her dance In My Heart. This memorable experience brought this choreography to a global audience, with the video amassing over 3.2 million views on YouTube.

Beyond the dance world, Maggie’s contributions to her community shine just as brightly. She was awarded the Good Citizen Award by the Mayor of Coventry in 2010 for her outstanding charity efforts, raising over £85,000 in 15 years through her dance marathons and Celtica Academy productions. Her Celtica Dance Academy, dedicated to Irish dance, and her Line Dance Club have been driving forces in these efforts, making Maggie one of Coventry’s most impactful fundraisers.

Family is the heartbeat of Maggie’s life. Her husband John, her parents, her sister Annette, and her extended Irish family have been unwavering in their support. Most importantly, her three sons — Sean, Gerard, and Padraig — are her greatest source of pride. A devoted mother and active school volunteer, Maggie even is the resident DJ at St. John Vianney Catholic School!

Grateful for her fans, instructors, and countless supporters, Maggie remains deeply humbled by the recognition she has received. She credits her success to the community that has embraced her journey and continues to inspire her to create, teach, and bring joy through dance.

LINE DANCING

I choreograph line dances and teach at my own classes in Coventry and at events, both nationally and internationally. I also teach on-line.
My many dances cover a wide range of styles and dance levels from Absolute Beginner to Advanced. I often introduce a new dance at events.

The scripts for all my dances are on this official website. I hope you enjoy them and have fun on the dance floor - to be sure, to be sure!

IRISH DANCING

My Irish dance classes, opened in 1990, are held in Allesley and Coventry and cater for all age ranges starting with the very young. These classes are part of my Celtica Academy Irish Dance School, with pupils aged 4 upwards.

My Celtica Academy Irish dance troupes are trained in my Coventry-based Celtica Academy Irish Dance School and we give enjoyment performing at dance events nationally and internationally. We are well known for our local fundraising and support charity events when we can. We are proud to host a Charity Show every two years at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry.

All my latest Celtica Academy news, classes, pictures and videos can be read on my Celtica Academy of Irish Dance Facebook, which is publicly readable. For more details, please see my Celtica-page.

LINE DANCE FOUNDATION

I am a very proud ambassador of the LDF and also so proud to have been appointed as a trustee. LDF does so much for our linedance family. I am starting a new initiative: 'Give 5 for LDF'. It would be amazing if you could help us by donating £5 a month and becoming an LDF Proud Member. This can be done by PayPal or bank transfer.

I will be doing a newsletter every couple of months focusing on our Proud Members and our ambassadors and keeping you all informed. Our linedance family is so supportive and it's very special to be part of it.

I really hope you can help us.

WORKSHOPS, EVENTS & HOLIDAYS

Maggie is available for bookings for workshops, both national and international. She also hosts several events throughout the year herself in collaboration with Club Dance Holidays and Awesome Linedancing.

More information for these events can be found on our homepage.
